Spiral of Time
by Rusted Doodles
Artist Bio: I am a student of the University of the Incarnate Word whose major is 3d Animation and Game Design. I am projected to graduate by May this year! I am very excited to be in my senior year and I have been exploring ways to communicate about the world around us and the importance of understanding Prehistory. The past is a world long gone now but in order to understand the present, we must understand the past and if we cannot then we will fail to comprehend the future.

In the Spiral of Time the overall story is essentially the story of Paleontology, the different layers of the swirl making up both the shell of an Ammonite but also being constructed of the various animals found over the years.
Q: What was your inspiration for this piece?
A: My inspiration for the Spiral of Time was the overall birthday of Paleontology. Paleontology turned 200 years old this Year with its first fossil being the Ammonite and it later expanded to the viewings of worlds lost to time. I thought the best way to show the overall expanse of Paleontology and how many discoveries and ancient lives we have been able to understand as time goes on. Several different animals from all across time reached outward with one unifying quality, we are the only things on this planet capable of reflecting on how much time has passed and we are the only things on this planet who can piece together the puzzle that is life.
