At My Starry Point

by Alexandria Hernandez

Alexandria is a junior studying English with a minor in Creative Writing. She hopes to one day write for a video game developing company.

If I could save her,

I’d give her another chance

and tell her that the stars are her friends

and that she’d never be alone again.

After so long, star shards danced on her chest

at her wits’ end with the supernova in her body

she finally let her eye catch

the shooting stars

and she could see

the Milky Way as it swirled

through the porcelain-framed view.

Feelings eclipsed through

She couldn’t help but make

one last shriek into the void

until oxygen ran short

and all she ever wanted

was to matter.
