There has been a crack in your ceiling

For as long as you can remember

You’ve had dust on your face

As you rest

Below the stars in your room

Your own night sky.

I wish that I could protect them

From people

People everywhere

Grasping out

For what’s not theirs

For what they want

But don’t need

And will never need.

Because those are your stars

And they have their own night sky.
