And I do not mean the leg warmers,

or fuzzy headbands and colorful leotards.

But bring back the tight hair,

the hairspray choking you up,

eyes pulled back obnoxiously by your mother

to be just right before school.

Bring back the miniature you, the girls

with rubber clothes, shoes, and dresses.

The ones we chewed on, curious of our surroundings,

the urge to taste more.

The pizza parties and barrel juice jugs.

Cartoons in the day shows, adults by night.

Bring me to my room, asleep in my dad’s strong arms

listening the adult talk fade.

Wake up confused how you made it to bed.

Bring it all around.

And leave it all behind as well.

Swipe up to the next nostalgia video,

Drops of water on your screen,

Don’t let me know of the next tragedy.

Bring back the innocence.

Give me back my time.
